Courses that run through the day are generally from 10.00 - 6.00 and evening courses are from 6.30 - 9.30 with just a short tea break.  All the shiatsu courses are based in Ealing, West London.

In addition to new courses, current courses are open to those with suitable shiatsu experience, if there are any spaces available.  Please phone to find out more information.

5 Element Shiatsu - a new approach

In the last few years the Ealing School (EaSS) has developed its own particular style of shiatsu, focusing on the exploration and use of the different energetic expressions of the 5 Elements of Oriental Medicine.  This has been an exciting development and been very favourably received by both clients and students who have helped explore the approach, as they have found it versatile, uncomplicated, yet energetically profound.

1 year course

Please see separate page

The three year diploma course will focus in more detail on the dynamics of the various qualities found within the 5 Elements, which can be channeled through a shiatsu treatment.  Much of this exploration and development has been made in conjunction with the growth of the healing aspects of SpiralStretch and SpiralDance. In addition, you will study Traditional Chinese Medicine’s organ system in much more detail (the background theory used by most acupuncturists), point locations and actions, and be able to produce high quality case studies to the standard required by the Shiatsu Society UK.

This is a suitable addition to any form of shiatsu and can enhance and deepen the connection for both the practitioner and receiver and give new insight into the process of energetic communication.

Residentials

It is also hoped that there will be a residential held in the autumn for a small number of people.  Although not finalised prospective dates are being arranged.

Joining the School

Before joining a course with the school it is recommended to organise a visit to meet some of the students and teachers and see how we work.  Th visit would act in a similar way to an open day.  Please contact David on 07773 384905 to arrange this or email the school.  In order to participate in the shiatsu it is necessary to wear loose clothing such as a track suit; however all other equipment is supplied.

The 2 year Certificate Course - Stages 1, 2, 3 & 4

The 3 year Diploma Course has had its examinations ratified by the Shiatsu Society UK - Stage 1 - 6

As well as the practice and theory of shiatsu, all courses contain movement form SpiralDance forms, Qi Gung style breathing exercises, aspects of Tai Chi, and meditation (usually Zen style).

Additional Courses and Residentials

The school runs occasional introductory shiatsu / movement weekends, days out in the country and residentials  for small groups.  These are open to anybody and discount is given to those already studying with the school.  For costs see special leaflets.

Residentials are usually themed around the energy of the seasons in which they are held and combined movement, shiatsu and meditation.  It has been noted that intensive periods of study really enhance a student’s ability and confidence in shiatsu, as it creates deeper connection, involvement, and embodiment of the underlying principles.  The meditation style practised is primarily Zen and is at an introductory level with training in basic posture, alignment, focus and breathing.  It is hoped that some of the experiences gained can become part of everyday life and continue to benefit and extend beyond the residentials themselves.
