‘... thank you for a most enjoyable day on Sunday exploring Movement and Shiatsu. You both have a very natural, warm and inclusive style of teaching which really brings the subject matter to life.’ A.B.
As we only work with small groups and because of the limited number of spaces we have to ask for a non-refundable deposit, if anybody would like to reserve a place.
Jim, who apart from working with shiatsu for over 15 years, is also an acupuncturist. Through personal interest, he made a special study of the pinyin names of the points and their meanings, as part of his degree and explored the more poetic aspects of the significances. There will then be an opportunity to explore an work with the points in a shiatsu treatment looking a various qualities of touch for the 5 Element approach developed at the school and there will be time for shared reflection at the end.
We have found the CPD days to be unique as they evolve around those who are present even when their is a specific topic. They can never be repeated as such, however there is ample opportunity for follow up exploration of areas, if people are interested and themes can be explored at greater depth. The recent CPD day of movement was very much a case in point with fresh faces all keen to participate in finding out more about their own bodies as well as connecting through shiatsu to others. Next time will naturally be different exactly as every shiatsu treatment is unique and different in the moment of its happening.
All these one day ‘Creative Shiatsu’ events will combine shiatsu with other aspects of life and we invite those with a special interest in a particular aspect of shiatsu to give a presentation to establish the theme of the day. The structure will generally be to have the morning covering the particular area and the afternoon for development and sharing of shiatsu and how the morning skills might be incorporated either within the treatment or through recommendations to clients with a reflective group feedback session at the end.
As space is quite limited priority will be given to those who book multiple sessions. Certificates of attendance are given for those who are developing a CPD portfolio in line with SSUK and CNHC requirements.
Please contact the school to book a place and if you require any further information call Dave on 07773 384905. All cheques to be made out to David Home, and sent to 45 Highvew Road, Ealing London W13 0HA
Future themes can be suggested by participants, as we explore together the power of qualities inherent in Ki. These days are open to all those who have some experience of shiatsu. However complete beginners are also welcome to participate and receive shiatsu and will get support in the introduction to the basics of connection through touch.
Past CPD days have included:

‘A client who I have been treating for repetitive muscular and joint injury and who responded to Shiatsu very little, sent me a text message on Saturday saying that he does not know what I did differently during the last Shiatsu session but his pain is gone. The only thing I did differently was using the techniques you showed me during the two tutorials I had with you’ - M.K. - Nottingham
‘... the different qualities to touch are a powerful tool which is exciting to explore and use as it gives Shiatsu more depths and meaning. Since I have started to incorporate those into my Shiatsu practise I have been getting so many positive feedbacks that it is definitely worth learning those techniques. I believe my Shiatsu will never be the same’ - M.K. - Nottingham
More short courses and open days are being planned so if you would like further information or feel that your level is the beginning of the 3rd year please contact the school 020 8991 2489. The school has a unique approach to the energetic area of shiatsu and healing and believe that shiatsu is very much an integrated part of life and that we all have experiences and qualities that we can bring to the sessions to both challenge and enhance the treatments.
